Fees & charges

Aviation medical prices

Here is how the cost of an aviation medical breaks down: our examiner fee, the separate CAA statutory charge, and anything that might add to the total.

The cost of an aviation medical usually comes in two parts: the examiner's fee for carrying out the assessment, and a separate CAA statutory charge where one applies. We set out both so you know what to expect before you attend.

Prices are available on enquiry. Please contact us for a quote for the examination you need before booking.

An important distinction

The CAA charge is separate from our fee

For most pilot medical certificates, the UK Civil Aviation Authority applies its own statutory charge, which is separate from and in addition to the examiner's fee shown above. This CAA charge is set by the CAA, is paid to the CAA (usually through its online medical records system when you apply), and is subject to change.

The CAA charges a separate statutory fee on top of the examiner's fee. It is set by the CAA and can change, so check the current CAA charge.

Always check the current CAA charge

Because CAA charges are reviewed periodically, we do not state a specific figure here as current fact. Please confirm the latest statutory charges directly with the UK CAA.

Good to know

What is included in the examiner fee

A standard assessment of the type you have booked typically includes:

  • Review of your history and the documents you bring
  • The standard clinical checks for your certificate class (for example vision, hearing, blood pressure and a urine test, as applicable)
  • A discussion of the outcome and any next steps
  • Completion of the relevant CAA paperwork for a straightforward assessment

Exactly what is included depends on the examination and your individual circumstances. See what to expect for a full walkthrough.

Possible additional costs

What may cost extra

Some assessments need additional tests, reports or referrals. Where these apply, any extra cost will be explained to you in advance wherever possible.

Additional tests

Certain examinations may require extra investigations (for example an electrocardiogram where it forms part of the requirements), which can carry an additional fee.

Reports & copies

Additional medical reports, letters or copies of documentation requested by you or a third party may be charged separately.

Referrals

If your assessment needs input from a specialist, any onward referral or specialist assessment is arranged and charged separately.

Follow-up visits

If further information is needed before a decision can be made, a follow-up appointment may be required.

Payment and cancellation

We will confirm the total expected cost and accepted payment methods when you book. The CAA charge is paid to the CAA directly where it applies. If you need to change or cancel an appointment, please let us know as early as you can. See our cancellation policy for details.
